By submitting data to flattenedFauna, the depositor agrees that they have the authority and permissions to do so. Once published, every data record housed in the Repository is accessible to our users. Therefore, the Repository supports or licensing. Databases that do not currently provide unlimited public access, but are subject to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests will be represented by metadata-only records.
fF recommends using the most open license possible to facilitate use of data. For a Creative Commons license, this is Attribution 4.0 International (, ). Under this license, a user must credit the dataset's creator, link to the Creative Commons license, and document any changes to the dataset. In compliance with these conditions, a user can use the data in almost any manner that does not violate other laws or licenses.
